In this review, we put three of the top air purifiers in the game head-to-head: the IQAir HealthPro Plus, the Molekule Pro, and the Jaspr Air Scrubber, and break down everything you need to know, so you can decide which one is best for you!
Choosing the right premium air purifier can feel overwhelming with so many bold claims and high-tech features. In this review, we put three of the top air purifiers in the game head-to-head: The IQAir HealthPro, The Molekule Pro, and The Jaspr Air Scrubber.
Indoor air isn’t as clean as most people think. Between mold, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), pet dander, allergens, and fine particulates, the air inside your home can be more polluted than the air outside. Since we spend roughly 80% of our lives indoors, choosing the right purifier can have a massive impact on sleep, energy, focus, and long-term health.
I recommend people either install air purifier within their HVAC systems (this can be expensive) or purchase and use an air purifier for the rooms they spend the most time in.
When shopping for an air purifier, it's essential to consider various factors to ensure you get the right one for your needs. Let's break down some of the abbreviations and vernacular so you know what you're buying:
The CADR indicates how quickly and effectively an air purifier can remove pollutants from the air. The higher the CADR the better, as I’d personally look for a model with a CADR of at least 250 CFM (cubic feet per minute) for optimal performance - especially for those of us who live in larger homes.
A True HEPA filter, short for High-Efficiency Particulate Air, is a type of air filter that can capture particles as small as 0.3 microns with a high-efficiency rate, typically around 99.97%. When choosing an air purifier make sure it uses a True HEPA filter and is truly efficient in removing mold spores, dust, pollen, and other airborne particles.
Both the Jaspr Air Scrubber and the Molekule Pro come equipped with a PM2.5 sensor, which is considered top-of-the-line for detecting fine particles as small as 2.5 micrometers. These particles, known as PM2.5, are especially harmful because they can travel deep into the lungs and even enter the bloodstream.
The IQAir HealthPro, on the other hand, does not include a PM2.5 sensor. It operates strictly on fixed fan speeds or via the remote control. To get the same sensor functionality as the Jaspr and Molekule, you’d need to upgrade to the HealthPro Plus XE. What the standard HealthPro Plus does offer, however, is an excellent activated carbon filter that’s highly effective at capturing VOCs.
When it comes to additional sensor features, the Jaspr has an internal VOC sensor (though it isn’t displayed on the screen) and will automatically adjust fan speed as air quality worsens. The Molekule Pro goes a step further with one of the most advanced sensor systems available: a multi-range particle sensor (PM1, PM2.5, and PM10), VOC and gas sensors, plus CO2 and AQI tracking, all visible in the app. Like the Jaspr, it can automatically increase fan speed when particulate levels rise.
🥇 The Molekule Pro - Multi-range sensors (PM1, PM2.5, PM10) and VOC.
🥈 Jaspr Air Scrubber - PM2.5 and internal VOC sensor.
🥉 IQ HealthPro Plus- No sensors. Excellent carbon filter for VOCs.
Sensor Technology Winner: Molekule Pro
Let's talk about the features and specs that make each one of these products unique. The Jaspr has a large user friendly display on the top of the air filter with a clear PM25 sensor reading, a traffic light color coordinated ring to guide you on what the air quality currently is like, a smart mode that's going to automatically kick up the fan when there's worse air quality, a night mode with no lights and a turbo mode for a deep clean.
The Molekule also has a user friendly display on top but a lot smaller in size, which provides a PM1, PM2.5 and PM10 senor reading for the different particle sizes. It has a quiet mode, a smart mode, an update on the filter and a settings page where you can control things such as disabling the WIFI or standby mode. A great feature of the Molekule is it does come with an app with additional features and insights.
The IQ Air has this cute little remote that you can use. It has wheels that you can roll it around on, and it has an insane amount of activated carbon in one of the three filters, so it's extremely good for VOCC's.
🥇 Jaspr – Smart mode, night mode, and turbo mode. Large, clear, user-friendly traffic light display.
🥈 Molekule Pro – Compact display, app integration and PECO filtration.
🥉 IQAir – Simple but powerful VOC handling, with its carbon filter.
Feature and Specs Winner: Jaspr Air Scrubber
Theres not much to say about IQ Air's build quality other than it's made out of plastic. They do however offer a 5 year warranty on the IQ Air HealthPro 250 and more positive reviews about customer service than vice versa.
The Molekule is made out of both metal and plastic. I find that the Molecule's design is super super nice and has this nice feels like really really high quality leather strap. The small display can be hard to read at times and the customer support has very mixed reviews.
Meanwhile, the Jaspr is made out of steel and has a nice metal material and a robust display screen. The screen has subtler button noises but can be a little unresponsive at times It also comes with a 30-day money back gaurantee and a lifetime warranty, so if anything breaks at any given time you'll be able to replace it no questions asked. Their customer support team are also air quality experts so have been working in this field for a while and know how best to help and support you.
🥇 Jaspr - Robust Steel construction, 30-day money-back guarantee, a lifetime warranty and excellent customer support.
🥈 Molekule Pro - Mix of metal and plastic, a stylish design, a 30-day money back guarantee and a 2 year warranty.
🥉 IQ Air - Plastic, feels a bit cheap, 5 year warranty and mixed reviews on customer support.
Build Quality and Support Winner: Jaspr Air Scrubber
Performance is one of the most important factors to consider, and CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) gives us a baseline for comparison. The Jaspr Air Scrubber has a CADR of 353 CFM (cubic feet per minute) and strong third-party studies showing it reduces airborne mold by 97% in 1 hour and microplastics as small as 0.016 microns by nearly 99% in the same time frame, plus in-house data linking it to better sleep quality.
The Molekule Pro doesn’t list a CADR, but based on coverage claims it’s estimated around 270 CFM, and while stylish, its PECO technology has faced lawsuits and mixed test results.
The IQAir HealthPro Plus comes in around 300 CFM and excels at VOC and gas filtration with its massive carbon filter, plus its HyperHEPA has been proven to trap particles as small as 0.003 microns, though it lacks clear real-world mold studies and modern sensing features.
🥇 Jaspr – CADR: 353 , excellent third-party results.
🥈 IQAir HealthPro Plus – CADR: ~300, excellent carbon filters.
🥉 Molekule Pro – CADR: ~270, mixed performance and reliability.
Performance Winner: Jaspr Air Scrubber
No one wants to use a super loud air filter, so I made sure to thoroughly test the noise levels of all three products on all their fan settings.
Ambient room noise: 34 dB.
🥇 IQAir – Quietest at full power.
🥈 Jaspr – Balanced noise vs performance.
🥉 Molekule Pro – Louder than both competitors.
Winner: IQAir
I don't know about you but when it comes to maintaining things I want as little headache as possible - I want to set and forget. Both Jaspr Pro and the Molekule Pro are easy to replace. You twist it open, take out the filter and stick a new one in - easy as that!
The IQ Air on the other hand is a little janky. You have to disassemble it and then it has three different filters to replace all at different time frames. The Premax filter in this one lasts 18 months. The Hyper HEPA filter lasts up to four years. And the V5 cell filter lasts about 2 years.
The Molekule Pro uses it's own special type of filters called PECO-HEPA filters. PECO (photo electrochemical oxidation) is an innovative technology that uses free radicals, to break down pollutants at a molecular level.
🥇 Molekule Pro – Uses PECO-HEPA filters (unique tech). Replacement costs between $140-175 every 6 months.
🥈 Jaspr – Easy filter swap. Cylindrical HEPA + carbon + VOC protection. $199 per filter, replaced every 6 months
🥉 IQAir – Large multi-stage filters, with different lifespans. Expensive and inconvient.
Filters and Maintenance Winner: Molekule Pro, slightly cheaper.
One of the most underrated factors to having an air filter is how it looks. If you don't believe it looks good, fits into or adds value to your room, you won't want to use it. The Jaspr is a really sleek, clean design, very minimal. You could put put in a corner of a room and it would blend into your room very nicely. It has a beautiful display on the top and it's made from steel which makes it feel like really high-end and premium.
The Molekule is a beautiful looking purifier, arguably the best on the market. Modern, cylindrical design with leather strap so it's easier to carry. Stylish, but on the smaller side.
The IQ Air is definitely the ugly stepchild of the whole industry. It looks like a photocopy machine from the 1990s. I think it looks very clinical. I think it looks very outdated. Let's just say it's due for an upgrade.
🥇 Molekule Pro - Modern, stylish, design-forward.
🥈 Jaspr Pro - Sleek, low-profile, blends in well.
🥉 IQ Air - Clinical, outdated, boxy.
Aesthetics Winner: Molekule Pro
Their wide range of features may be great but are they affordable - lets talk about prices.
The Jaspr Pro sits in at $1199 but with code 'wellnessdaddy' you can get $200 off. What's cool about Jaspr is they stack discounts for multiple purchases. So if you buy two, they give you an extra 10% off. If you buy three, they give you an extra 15% off. And if you buy four, they give you an extra 20% off. They really want to incentivize people to create whole home air filtration. The filter has to be changed every 6 months and on a subscription cost $199.
The Molekule cost $979.99 and I wasn't able to get a discount from them unfortunately. They also stack discount codes and give you 15% off when you buy two and 25% off when you buy three. The filter has to be changed every 6 months and on a subscription cost $139.
The IQ Air Health Pro 250 is $949.99, has bundle princing on the upgraded XE and has an overall cost of $369 to replace the filters. The filters do have different timelines, some last 18 months and others up to 4 years.
🥇 Molekule Pro – $980, bundle discount for multiple purchases, and $140 filter subscription every 6 months.
🥈 Jaspr – $999 with discount code, bundle discount for multiple purchases, and $199 filter subscription every 6 months.
🥉 IQAir – $950, bundle discount for upgraded models, and $370 for whole filter replacement.
Price Winner: Molekule Pro
