What Is The SaunaSpace FireLight?

The SaunaSpace FireLight Super Sauna is a portable, full-spectrum incandescent sauna designed to deliver radiant heat and replicate the power of sunlight (minus UV and blue light).

Unlike most home saunas that use infrared panels or traditional steam heating, Sauna Space uses custom incandescent bulbs that emit a wide range of light wavelengths:

• Red light: ~680–1000 nm
• Near infrared: ~980–1500 nm
• Mid infrared: ~1500–3000 nm
• Far infrared: 3000+ nm

The bulbs are intentionally tuned to peak in the near-infrared range, which penetrates deeper into tissue than mid or far infrared wavelengths. These wavelengths heat the body directly, allowing you to sweat deeply without requiring extremely high ambient air temperatures like steam saunas.

The sauna is also designed around non-toxic materials and ultra-low EMF exposure, which makes it especially appealing to people who are sensitive to chemicals, VOCs, or electromagnetic fields.

Setup

The setup was honestly a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.

The frame is made from a series of lightweight poles that form the structure, and then a canvas enclosure wraps over the top. Inside the enclosure, you install the FireLight bulbs and light fixtures. The

The entire sauna sits on a bamboo grounding mat, which connects to the electrical system and allows the user to ground during sessions.

While it’s technically possible to assemble this sauna alone, I strongly recommend having a second person help. It makes the process significantly easier.

For the price point, I do think Sauna Space could consider adding a white-glove installation option, where they come and build it for you which would make the onboarding experience smoother. They do have a clear instruction manual, however, and a video showing you exactly how to build it.

Build Quality

Where SaunaSpace really stands out is in its material quality and toxin-free design. The company has clearly gone above and beyond to create one of the cleanest sauna environments possible.

The materials used throughout the sauna are intentionally and thoughtfully selected:

• North American Basswood – Sustainably harvested and crafted without chemicals or oils
• Stainless Steel Guards – Untreated, USA-manufactured guards with no powder coating
• Organic Bamboo Grounding Mat – Heat-treated for durability, unvarnished, and chemical-free
• Organic Canvas – GOTS-certified 100% cotton canvas that is durable and machine washable

Silver Lining EMF Shield (optional add-on) – Made from 35% silver and 65% GOTS-certified organic cotton, designed to block 99.9% of EMFs

Because of this, the sauna has virtually no off-gassing, which is especially important for people who are highly sensitive to chemicals, VOCs, or synthetic materials or are trying to create the cleanest healing environment possible.

The fabric enclosure is available in Natural, Indigo, Dark Chocolate, Stone, and Turmeric (hand-dyed) and there are also two sauna configurations to choose from:

• The Classic – 4 bulbs (Hearth Quartet)

• The Super Sauna – 7 bulbs (Hearth Quartet + Hearth Trio)

The sauna plugs into a standard 120V outlet and runs on a 1750W system, so there’s no need for special wiring or electrical work.

Another standout detail is that everything is handcrafted in Sauna Space’s own factory in Columbia, Missouri, with zero outsourcing. A detail that adds another layer of confidence in the level of quality.

Overall, the build quality is excellent. My only critique is that the frame doesn’t feel quite as rigid or sturdy as a traditional wood-panel sauna, but that tradeoff is part of what makes it lightweight and portable.

The FireLight sauna is fairly minimalistic in terms of technology, but it focuses heavily on performance and safety. Key features include:

  The sauna produces extremely low electromagnetic fields. I tested the levels with an EMF meter and readings stayed well below typical exposure thresholds of 3-5mG. For people who want to minimize EMF exposure even further, Sauna Space offers an optional Silver Lining EMF Shield, which lines the enclosure and acts as a 360° EMF blocker.

  The incandescent bulbs deliver red light, near infrared, mid infrared, and far infrared simultaneously. The Firelight bulbs are some of the highest quality I've seen. They have a specially tuned filament that runs at a higher Kelvin temperature. No LEDs. No flicker. No blue light stress.

  Unlike most saunas, there’s no heat-up time. The radiant heat begins immediately when the bulbs turn on.

Ease of Use & Experience

What suprised me about the Firelight is how instant the heat really was. After 5 minutes I was already sweating and by 10 minutes i was fully cooked.

The interesting part is that the air temperature inside the sauna isn’t extremely high. Most sessions stay between 130-150°F, depending on the model and number of bulbs. But the radiant heat from the bulbs feels significantly more intense than many infrared saunas I’ve used.

Because the heat is directional, you rotate your body every few minutes to expose different areas to the bulbs. It almost feels like a rotisserie-style sauna session, which sounds funny but actually works well. The experience is very different from traditional sauna heat. It feels more like sitting in sunlight, rather than being surrounded by hot air.

Maintenance, Pricing and Warranty

Maintenance is fairly simple. Because the sauna uses fabric and organic materials, you’ll want to use towels during sessions to absorb sweat and wash them regularly (ideally weekly). Both the inner and outer covers are machine washable, just use a delicate cycle with a gentle, hypoallergenic detergent, then hang dry or use the air-dry setting.

In terms of pricing, the Sauna Space lineup includes two main configurations: the Classic FireLight Sauna at around $4,995 and the FireLight Super Sauna at around $6,445, with the option to save 10% using code WELLNESSDADDY.

While it is on the higher end for a one-person sauna, the premium materials and specialized bulbs help justify the cost. Sauna Space also offers strong warranty coverage, including a 10-year warranty on the frame and fabric, a 5-year warranty on the bulbs and silver lining, and a 100-day home trial. The SaunaSpace FireLight Sauna is one of the most unique sauna designs on the market. Instead of competing directly with traditional or infrared saunas, it sits in a category of its own. The radiant incandescent heat feels incredibly powerful, and the emphasis on non-toxic materials and ultra-low EMF design will appeal to a very specific type of buyer.

It’s not the cheapest sauna, and the setup could be improved, but the performance and material quality are some of the best I've reviewed.
