The Rocky Mountain 2 Person Infrared Sauna is a two-person, plug-and-play infrared cabin built from pure Canadian hemlock, and I'm one of the first people on the planet to review it. Rocky Mountain Saunas has actually been around for 15 years, but they're kind of a sleeper company, and I think we're going to be hearing a lot more about them.
I think this sauna is going to disrupt the space for three reasons: the performance, the design, and the price. In this article I'll cover the materials, the build quality, everything inside the cabin, my EMF and temperature readings, the price, maintenance and warranty, and who this sauna is and isn't right for. Let's dive in.
Materials
It's made from pure Canadian hemlock, which seems to be the wood of choice with most of the premium sauna brands. The reason people use Canadian hemlock is that it's low VOC and as non-toxic as possible. It also doesn't really have an aroma, which matters if you're one of the people who's sensitive to the cedar woods.
Build Quality and Design
On the side you have horizontal panels that meet the glass and run into the corner. The really cool part about this sauna is that it's glass on glass with the door and the wall. When you open it there's a little bit of a magnetic pull that closes it very gently, and it's sealed super well. With a lot of saunas that have glass doors meeting glass, there can usually be some type of air leak. This one is extremely well sealed.
The walls are connected through a little bolt that doesn't go into the wood. It goes into a female part instead, so it isn't going to destroy the wood, and you can actually take it back out. If you need to move the sauna and rebuild it, you can do that relatively easily.
On the top, instead of the roof going into the sauna, it latches around the outside. That holds all the walls together and makes it super secure.
From a design perspective you get three different elements. There's the glass, then right next to it the black trim that runs all the way around, and then the wood itself in a standard sauna color plus a little bit darker of a wood. The black trim just looks really premium, and depending on where you're putting the sauna, those finishes can help it match the environment better than a standard sauna or an all-black sauna would.

Good news is it plugs into a regular standard outlet, which is super convenient.
Inside the Cabin
Step inside and you have a panel where you can control everything. The panel was set to 175°F, which is very hot for an infrared sauna. You've got the timer, and you've got Bluetooth if you want to connect your phone and listen to a podcast or some music.
Heating:
- Far infrared panels as the standard heat source
- A full spectrum heater on the front wall right next to the door, switched on with its own button
- A heater underneath the seat. No other sauna that I know of has this.
- Heaters right underneath your feet
Between the foot panel, the seat, the panel in front of you and the wrap-around, you're getting really, really amazing full body coverage.
You can also turn the light on or off and change the color like on most saunas. Up top there are two vents, so you can get a CO2 break if you want one. The speakers are tucked behind the wood, which I think is a really nice feature. The thermostat is metal very much on purpose so it doesn't melt, and the glass is a special material that's not going to melt either. The touchscreen itself is really, really beautiful.
EMF and Temperature Testing
This sauna claims to be a low EMF sauna, so I brought my trusty EMF meter and a temperature gun to find out whether it really is.
When I got in, the panel read 158°F and the gun read about 140. Then I turned on the EMF meter. Right where you're sitting it was zero, or very low, reading 0.2 and 0.3. For reference, anything between three and five is good, and anything below that is ultra low.
There is a little bit more coming off the front heater when you get right up close to it, but you wouldn't be sitting that close, and pulling back a little it's decent. That's exactly why they put that heater at the front. I'm sitting back on the bench getting the heat off it without being on top of it. Switching the meter over to electric, it read zero inside. Very low. That's what you want to see.
My Experience
I was starting to get a really good sweat six minutes in. That full spectrum heater really cranks. It makes it significantly hotter, and I think the cabin is heating up a lot faster because of it.
Something I noticed once I was in there is that they've added a little foot bench. I quite like it. I think that's better than just having your feet down below, especially if you're a short king like me, and it makes the whole thing a bit more comfortable.
I don't know what it is about this sauna, but it feels really comfortable and cozy. Maybe it's because of the way the glass meets on the door. It's a very cozy and luxurious experience. I've built a lot of saunas and most of them don't have as clean of a seal as this one.
Price
This sauna comes in at $5,945, and they gave me a code that takes 10% off on top of whatever sale price they're running.
There are other two-person low EMF saunas on the market that are way more expensive than this. I'm talking thousands of dollars more.
Maintenance and Warranty
As always, bring your towels and put them on the floor and on the bench. It's Canadian hemlock, and you don't want to get it all dirty and gross. A towel down for every session preserves the life of the wood so it doesn't get ruined over time.
These are backed by a 10-year warranty. I love seeing these longer warranties, because it means a company actually believes in its product and is willing to stand behind it. If you decide to buy one and there's ever an issue for whatever reason, they're going to be on top of it and you're covered for a long time.
Who It's For (and Who Should Skip It)
I think this is the perfect sauna for someone who wants a really premium experience but just doesn't want to break the bank. If you're ready for a big boy sauna but you're not willing to pay the absolute premium price, this is a very, very good option for you.
It's also a good fit if:
- You want a really nice sauna that's big enough to fit two people and is still plug and play. Because it runs off a standard outlet, you can basically put it anywhere.
- You want an infrared sauna that can get really hot. That heater on the front wall means it gets hot fast and gets up to those higher temperatures.
- You want something that's extremely well built, that looks so beautiful, and that will really add to any room it's in.
Who it's not right for:
- Anyone with budgetary constraints. I've covered more budget-friendly options elsewhere on the channel, and if this one is still too expensive, their one-person sauna is worth a look. I'll be making a video about that at some point.
- Anyone in a really small and confined space. It doesn't take up that much space, but you might need the one-person, or something like the Heavenly Heat Eco or the SaunaBox Solera.
- Anyone who wants the red light therapy option, because this one doesn't have it. The Heavenly Heat 2 person with red light therapy and the SaunaBox Solera both do.
This is one of those products where I really feel it's right for most people if you can afford it. If you actually have the budget to dedicate towards a nicer sauna, this is probably one of the best options on the market. Other than the cases above, it's really solid for basically anyone who wants a nice two-person infrared sauna.
The Final Score
- Quality: 9/10. It's really up there with the best saunas on the market. The low EMF, the design, all of it is really amazing.
- Service: no score yet. I can't give you a straight answer because I don't know yet. The company was recently bought, and I met the new founders and had a really good experience with them, but there are no real reviews yet. I'll make an updated review as time goes on and the reviews come in.
- Price: 9/10. For what it is and what else is out there on the market, this is extremely well priced. For the quality and the experience you get, paying this price for this size of sauna is really good.
- Experience: 10/10. I think it's an amazing experience. I really like something about this cabin. Not all cabins feel the same way, and I like how this one feels.
- Daddy Factor: 10/10. This price point, with this quality, with this size, I think it's hard to beat this one.
That gives the Rocky Mountain 2 Person Sauna a 38 out of 40, which is an incredible score. We'll have to find out what their service is like over time, and I'll report back with an updated score out of 50. For now, it's a 38 out of 40.
Final Thoughts
I think this is one of the best saunas that I've ever used, and I think you'll be really happy if you decide to get this one. I know they're going to be rolling out more products and bigger saunas, and they already have the one-person, which I'll be reviewing soon.
