What Is The Heavenly Heat BOX Sauna?
The Heavenly Heat BOX Sauna is a one-person sauna designed differently than your traditional stand-up, sit-on-a-bench sauna. It's meant to be super compact, heat up quickly, and it usually comes at a lower price point.
It has the same DNA as the rest of the Heavenly Heat line: pure Canadian hemlock, no glues, no plywood, no VOCs, no off-gassing, and it's supposed to be ultra low EMF. I brought the EMF meter and the temperature gun to find out whether it holds up, and to see if this is the right sauna for you. Let's dive in.

I'm about 5'7", and it comes up to about chest height on me. At 250 lbs it's significantly lighter than other saunas.
The pieces arrive in big boxes and the assembly is DIY friendly. You put the pieces together and connect the slider so the top can move back and forth. But I want to be very clear, because I have built a lot of saunas: every company makes it seem easier than it is. I would definitely recommend two people. These pieces of wood are extremely heavy. This is an invite-your-friend-over-to-do-you-a-favor type of deal.
You can also take the white glove delivery option and have someone build it for you. It costs a little bit more, but if you don't want to go through the hassle of building it, you just check that box.
The cool part about this sauna is that there's no contractor needed, no electrician. It plugs right into a standard outlet, just like the rest of the Heavenly Heat saunas, which is a huge appeal with these units. They do recommend running it on a dedicated circuit so you don't trip the breaker.
Build Quality
This follows all the standards Heavenly Heat normally uses: no plywood, no glues, so there's no off-gassing and no VOCs. It's as low toxin as possible. If that's something that matters to you, they cover all their bases really well, and they do a lot of quality control to make sure everything is up to spec and up to standard.
Design and Features
For me the real story here is the design. You open the top, step in, and slide the top closed behind you. You end up in this little cocoon-like enclosure with heaters basically surrounding you in every direction, plus a big panel right behind your back.
- Two windows. I like these. They make it feel a little bit less claustrophobic, so you're not just staring at a box wall.
- Chromotherapy light. You change it by pressing the button on the panel.
- Multiple vents. There's a vent below and another inside for airflow. I think these are amazing features, because that way you don't get a huge CO2 buildup, which is one of the main reasons people end up getting out of a sauna sooner than they should.
- Control panel. Temperature and timer. You press the timer and it goes up, same with the temperature gauge. It's pretty straightforward.
One note on the unit I tested: this is one of their first units. There's an updated version coming with a handlebar added at the top and on the side, which will make it easier to get up and out.
Ease of Use and EMF Testing
Once I was in, I checked the EMF. Anything between 3 and 5 is really good, and anything below 3 is ultra low. Inside the cabin the levels were very good. Pressed right up close it was still very low, reading 1. I switched the meter over to electrical and got zero. There's a little bit coming off the control panel, but not much.
Those are very good levels of EMF inside the cabin, which is exactly what you want to see.
My Experience
The panel read 150 when I got in. I closed the vents and sat down, and I was freaking sweating already at 3 minutes. I said I'd check back in 8 minutes, and by then I was drenched.
That is a very quick sweat, and I think it has a lot to do with how small the cabin is. It just heats up so fast. It was only 154°F in the cabin, but you're so close to the heaters that this thing is just pumping. The proximity to the heaters is very real. It got really hot, really fast.
From an efficiency standpoint that's a genuine selling point. If you're the type of person who wants to get in, get out, and have it heat up fast.
Maintenance, Pricing and Warranty
As with every Heavenly Heat sauna, because they use Canadian hemlock you're going to want to put a towel down. It catches sweat and keeps dirt out of the sauna. The wood is light, so it stains easily and can get messed up otherwise.
The BOX typically retails at $4,500, and at the time I filmed this they were running a sale price of $3,999. They also gave me the code WELLNESSDADDY, which stacks an extra 6% on top of any sale. Just check the current sale price, since it can vary depending on when you're reading this. For a model like this, I feel like that's a very, very good price.
The warranty is a 10-year warranty, which Heavenly Heat gives with all of their saunas. These are quality products and they stand behind them, and that matters a lot when you're making a purchase this size.
Who Is It For (and Not For)?
I think this is literally maybe one of the best saunas if you have a really small space and you just want to tuck it away in a corner.
✅ People in an apartment, town home, or condo, or anyone who isn't in their forever home and knows they'll be moving
✅ People who want a really solitary experience, since it's a one-person sauna and it genuinely feels like a cocoon and a safe space
✅ People who don't have a huge budget but want a really nice sauna
✅ People who are chemically sensitive, going through a detox, or who have been through health challenges, because these are the safest saunas on the market
✅ People who like a seated posture where you can stretch your legs out instead of sitting upright
❌ Anyone who wants a sauna for more than one person (look at Heavenly Heat's two-person sauna or the two-person red light instead)
❌ People who don't like an enclosure, or who find it claustrophobic. Even with the windows, I can see how some people just wouldn't vibe with it
❌ Anyone who wants to listen to music or a meditation during their session. There's no Bluetooth option. If that's part of your ritual, you might have to find another sauna, or just bring a speaker inside and play it from your phone
The Wellness Daddy Score
Quality: 10/10. Heavenly Heat knocks it out of the park every time. Low EMF, low tox, and the build quality is amazing.
Service: 10/10. I've had a great experience with the company. Having their products delivered to my house and built for me was really seamless, and they let me know every step of the way what was happening. I've gotten to know the team and they're great people who really want to do the right thing for their customers.
Price: 9/10. I think this is one of the best priced saunas on the market. For everything you get, it's hard to beat.
Experience: 7/10. I think it's dope, my preference just isn't the box enclosure, but some people really like it. For me, I'd rather sit in a more traditional setup. But I love how hot it got and how quickly it heated up. My only other ding is that sometimes when I lean back I burn myself a little, so I think there's something that needs to be worked out with the ridges.
Daddy Factor: 10/10. For what it is, in the category it sits in, I think it's the best. It's the combination of factors: the price, how hot it gets, how quickly you sweat, how deeply you sweat, the low toxin, the low EMF.
Total: 46 out of 50. That's one of the best scores we've ever given.
Final Thoughts
It's not for everyone, for sure. But if you have a small space, you want a solitary sauna that heats fast and sweats you deep, and you care about low toxin and low EMF, then look no further.
I think this is one of the most well-priced saunas on the market for what you get, and it cranks. If you decide to get this product, I think you'll be really happy, and I'd feel really good recommending it to my mom.
