Superpower Bloodwork Review (Better Than Function Health?)

Superpower is a new blood work platform that’s trying to make preventative, personalized health way more accessible. In this blog post, I'll give you a comprehensive review on what superpower is, how exactly the test and platform works and whether I think it’s actually better than Function Health. Let's dive in.

What is Superpower and how does it works?

The process is simple: for $199 per year, you sign up and take an annual blood test either at home (with an add-on mobile draw) or at one of 3,000+ Quest Diagnostics locations. Within 5–10 days, your results are analyzed and delivered inside a super easy-to-read dashboard.

You’ll see 100+ biomarkers across 21 health categories, including metabolic, thyroid, and immune health, with each marker clearly explained. You also get a personalized, AI-driven wellness plan, text access to a real concierge physician team, a 24/7 AI support chat and marketplace discounts to supplements and tests.

Here's the step by step:

  1. Create an account
  2. Fill out your health history + goals (family history, symptoms, objectives, etc.)
  3. Order blood work
  4. Get your blood drawn (at a lab or at home)
  5. Results arrive in 5–10 business days
  6. Log in and view your full report + action plan
  7. Optional: upload past labs and old health data to build a complete health file over time

Inside The Platform: What You Actually See?

Once you log in, Superpower gives you a dashboard that’s pretty clean and easy to understand.

You have a grade rating per category, an overall superpower score that acts as a 'health rating' and a biological age score.

I scored an 86/100 which I was happy with as I’m currently in the middle of a mold/SIRS protocol, so it was reaffirming to see that my immune markers were low.

My biological age ws 23.8 which is 8.6 years younger than my calendar age. It's important to clarify that this isn't telomere-based like some biological age tools and is calculated via an algorithm that using your bloodwork results.

The rest of the data tab will then provide a list of your biomarkers. Each biomarker has a given range and a rating via the superpower color code system. Green is optimal, yellow is normal and pink is low. On the right hand side of each biomarker, each dot represents a data entry point.

These have been recorded and tracked via my past uploads. To do so click the data tab, click records and then upload your previous blood test or health results. Superpowers AI system will austomically sync and add your results to the designated biomarker.

If you want an explanation of what each biomarker means, simply click on the biomarker. You'll be provided with a clear explanation of what it is and why it's important, with credible sources that Superpower have referenced.

The next tab on the dashboard is the protocol tab. Here you will find your recommended goals based on your blood work data and products that may help support those goals. Superpower will provide a high priority goal, two medium priority and one low priority goal.

My high priority goal is to improve my immune system and white blood cell count. When I click on the goal, it will provide information on where the goal has come from, which biomarkers it is addressing, an explanation of what it means, potential causes for your results and actionable next steps.

If you have any further questions or would like to create an actionable plan, you can then click on the concierge tab and use the beta conceirge AI support chat or ask specific questions to the concerige care team. The AI support will respond immeditely while the care team is done through text message. A doctor, dietian or nutritionist will respond to your request within 24 hours.

The final tab is the marketplace, this is where you can purchase additional tests, supplements and prescriptions. This is amazing if you want to do a toxin specific testing or deeper testing on your gut. The supplement section is tailored specifically to your needs and gives you 20% off supplements which is nice. And the presciption section I'm not a person fan of as they don't seem relevant to me.

Things I like:

✅ Super easy to use and streamlined process.

✅ Text reminders for fasting and appointments etc

✅ The ability to track changes in my data overtime

✅ Discount on supplements

✅ How clear the results and explanations are

✅ Personalized recommedations and goals

✅ Being able to use AI and a concerige team simultaneously

Things I don't like:

❌ How generic the presctiption section is

❌ AI is still in beta and has occasional UI issues

❌ Concierge messages should live in-platform

❌ No built in 90 day plan

Superpower vs Function Health

Both Superpower and Function Health are similar comprehensive bloodwork panels but with some key differences.

First is price, both use annual membership pricing. Superpower is $199 or $179 with my discount (use code 'wellnessdaddy' for an extra $20 off) compared to Functions $365. This works out to be $15 per month vs $22 per month on aveage. Function does provide 2 tests for the price, the first is 100 biomarkers and a second test at 6 months is only 60 biomarkers.

Second is testing location. Superpower has lab testing at 3000+ locations and for an additional fee of $119 you can choose to have an at home blood test. Function offers lab visits only at 2000+ locations.

Function | 100 Healthy Years

Third is support and integration. Superpower unlike Function allows you to upload previous labs and data, has concierge support so allows you to talk to real humans as well as AI and offers discounts on personalized supplements.

Function Health was created by Mark Hyman so does have more institutional backing. It's the big dog of the functional medicine world. On the other hand, Superpower is a newer, smaller startup that is still growing and developing, while providing massive value.

Final Thoughts

I love this product for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is that it makes blood work far more accessible and realistic for everyday people. For most of us, getting comprehensive labs through the traditional medical system is frustrating at best. Many doctors won’t run these tests unless something is already seriously wrong, and even when they do, it often feels like pulling teeth. With Superpower, that friction is gone.

Preventitive health like Superpower shifts health from guessing to really understanding yourself and what you need, with real data. Your recommendations are based on what’s actually happening inside your body and are personalized to you. This is the future of personalized health in my opinion. It's preventative. It's proactive and it's affordable.
