These homes are made from a bone-like material. Mold-proof, fireproof, earthquake-proof. But how? And is it possible that living in these homes could actually make you healthier? Can this weird bone-like material actually solve the affordable housing crisis?
GeoShip sent me this block, and I've been going down the rabbit hole. These little things are samples of what they're building homes out of. They're dense and smooth to the touch, and the chemistry is almost identical to human bone. But it was invented for something completely different, and that something required it to last not decades, but centuries.
They call it a bioceramic composite. Here's the simple version. Your bones are made from calcium, magnesium, and phosphate. They're dense and crystalline. This material has almost the exact same chemical composition: the same core elements, the same crystalline structure.
But here's the really cool part. It behaves like cement. You take a mix, you add some water, and it cures at room temperature.
But there is one effect that seems to stay consistent amongst everyone who goes into one of these domes and spends some time there. They all report back the same thing, and so I don't want to dismiss this. It isn't about the material. It's about the dome shape and the effect it has on the nervous system. There's real science behind it.
